What is the Melanage Skin Lightening Peel?
The Melanage Skin Lightening Peel is a superficial peel designed to improve the texture and appearance of hyper-pigmentation which involves a medicated masque and an at-home regimen. This peel is safe for all skin types including dark skin. There is no pain and little-to-no irritation during the application of the mask, and typically, the irritation level on the following days is more like a sunburn.
How many treatments will I need?
Only one treatment is initially recommended. However, a touch-up treatment can be performed on problem spots after one month if recommenced by your aesthetician.
What will I experience after treatment?
Your skin may have a yellow tinge or slight redness after removal of the masque. The redness may last up to one week. Approximately 48 hours after the treatment your skin will start to peel, which will generally last 2-5 days. Patients must follow the at-home regimen for best results. You will be provided, at no additional charge, with an at-home skincare product kit containing an Anti-Redness Foaming Cleanser, Anti-Redness Soothing Balm, Antioxidant Soothing Balm Sunscreen SPF 30 and Melanage 2 Crème. This kit should last about 3 months.
What results can I expect?
Results will vary, but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. By using the at home regimen you increase your chances of having better results. Dark spots will lighten, as well as, an improvement in skin texture and tone. Although most patients experience peeling of their skin, not every patient will. If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of The Melanage Skin Lightening Peel, such as: stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminution of fine lines and pigmentation. Proper skin evaluation prior to your peel is important, and will help predict the outcome of your peel.
